Do you work on heat pumps?
Yes. We install, service, and repair heat pumps—including modern variable-speed systems. Heat pumps are an increasingly popular choice in Southern California because they handle both heating and cooling efficiently in our mild climate.

Pricing & Payment
Flat-Rate Estimates, Diagnostics, and Financing
How much does an HVAC diagnostic cost?
Our diagnostic evaluation is a $69 flat rate. This covers a full assessment of your system, identification of the root problem, and a written repair estimate. If you approve the repair, the $69 is applied toward your service total.
Do you charge for estimates?
Estimates on new system installations are always free. The $69 diagnostic fee applies to service calls where we are troubleshooting an existing system—it is not a free visit, but it is a fixed, upfront cost with no hidden charges.
How does your flat-rate pricing work?
Before any repair work begins, we give you a written flat-rate estimate for the job. The price you approve is the price you pay—we do not add charges after the fact or bill by the hour in a way that creates surprises. You are always in control.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, cash, and check. Financing is also available on qualifying installations—ask us about current financing options when you request your estimate.
Is financing available?
Is financing available?
Yes. We offer financing on qualifying HVAC system installations. If the upfront cost of a new system is a concern, we can walk you through financing options with no obligation. Ask about current terms and approval requirements when you call.
Are there rebates available for new systems?
Customers served by SoCal Edison and SoCalGas may qualify for rebates on qualifying high-efficiency HVAC equipment. Rebate amounts change seasonally. We will walk you through currently available programs during your free estimate appointment.
Scheduling & Response
How to Book, Wait Times, and Emergencies
How do I schedule a service call?
Call us at (562) 228-9286 or request an appointment online at ktmhvac.com. When you call, let us know what is going on, and we will get you scheduled as quickly as possible—often the same day for repair calls.
Do you offer same-day service?
Yes. For most repair calls in our service area, same-day scheduling is frequently available. This is not a guarantee for every call, but it is our goal. The earlier in the day you call, the better your chances of a same-day visit.
Do you offer 24-hour emergency service?
Yes. We operate a 24-hour emergency line at (562) 228-9286. HVAC emergencies do not keep office hours, and neither do we. When you call after hours, you are connected directly to our team—not a call center or answering service.
What are your regular business hours?
Monday through Friday: 8:00am to 6:00pm. Saturday: 8:00am to 4:00pm. Sunday: Closed. Our 24-hour emergency line is available every day for urgent situations outside regular hours.
How quickly do you respond to emergency calls?
We dispatch from Bellflower, which puts us close to most of our service area. Response times for emergencies vary depending on demand, time of day, and location, but our goal is always to get to you as quickly as possible—particularly during peak summer months.

Repairs & Maintenance
Common Issues, Tune-Ups, and Maintenance Plans
How do I know if my AC needs repair or replacement?
General rule: if your system is under 10 years old and the repair cost is less than 50% of the replacement cost, repair usually makes sense. If the system is 15+ years old, experiencing repeated failures, or losing efficiency noticeably, replacement is likely the smarter long-term investment. We give you an honest assessment—not a sales pitch.
How often should I have my HVAC system serviced?
We recommend a professional tune-up at least once per year. In Southern California, where AC runs hard from late spring through early fall, spring is the ideal time to service your cooling system before peak demand. Heating systems should be checked in fall before the first cold nights.
What does an HVAC tune-up include?
A standard tune-up includes a full system inspection, coil cleaning, filter check and replacement, refrigerant level check, thermostat calibration, electrical connection tightening, lubrication of moving parts, and a written report on overall system health.
My AC is blowing warm air—what is wrong?
The most common causes are low refrigerant (typically from a leak), a dirty condenser coil, a failed compressor, or a refrigerant metering issue. Some can be simple fixes; others require more significant work. Our $69 diagnostic will identify the exact cause before any repair begins.
My furnace is not turning on—what should I check?
First check your thermostat settings and battery. Check that the circuit breaker for the furnace has not tripped. Make sure the filter is not completely blocked—a clogged filter can trigger a safety shutoff. If none of those resolve it, call us. Do not attempt to reset gas components yourself.
Do you offer maintenance plans?
Yes. Our annual maintenance plans include a full seasonal inspection, coil cleaning, filter replacement, thermostat check, and priority scheduling. Maintenance plan customers get priority booking—they never wait behind new callers when something goes wrong.
Installation & Upgrades
New Systems, Energy Efficiency, and What to Expect
How long does a new AC installation take?
A standard central AC replacement typically takes four to eight hours, depending on system complexity and whether any duct modifications are needed. Ductless mini split installations for a single zone can often be completed in a single day. We give you a realistic time estimate when you book.
What size AC do I need for my home?
AC sizing is based on your home's square footage, ceiling height, insulation, window area, and local climate. An undersized system will run constantly and never cool properly; an oversized one will short-cycle and create humidity problems. We calculate the right size for your specific home—no guessing.
What is a SEER rating, and why does it matter?
SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) measures how efficiently an AC system uses electricity. Higher SEER = lower operating costs. The current California minimum is 15 SEER for new installations. We recommend 16 SEER or higher for most customers, which can also qualify for SoCal Edison rebates.
Can you add HVAC to a home that has no ductwork?
Yes. Ductless mini split systems are designed for exactly this situation. They require no ductwork, can be installed in most homes without major construction, and allow room-by-room temperature control. They are also highly efficient—often more so than traditional ducted systems.
How long should a new HVAC system last?
A properly installed and regularly maintained central AC system typically lasts 15 to 20 years. Furnaces can last 20 to 25 years. Ductless mini splits generally last 15 to 20 years as well. Annual maintenance significantly extends equipment life and keeps warranties valid on newer systems.
